Hi friends!
I hope your new year is going really well. I am so excited for this year to continue and I truly feel that God is working in me and I have been feeling so inspired with so many blog post ideas.
This blog post is actually just combining all the things that I feel so inspired about into one post. Now in the future, I could go deeper on these things that I feel that God is showing me, but for now I just want to share a few things that I am realizing as I continue my journey with God.
Progress over Perfection
We are not perfect. We can’t be perfect. We will never be perfect. The only perfect One who came to this earth is Jesus Christ. But, we can make progress. We can strive to be better every single day, even if it’s only 1% better. With God’s help, we can make progress but we should stop putting so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect. If you’re trying, you’re doing great!!!
We Put Too Much Value in our own Strength.
Now I got this from With The Perry’s podcast, but basically, they were saying how we put too much value in our own strength instead of God’s. We rely on ourselves to get us through hard things, like even fighting temptations. We say, if I do this, then maybe I can become more patient. When really we should say, I’m going to pray and ask God to show me how to be more patient. Because to put it simply, we can’t do it on our own. We also use what we do and don’t do to make us feel holy. We have so much pride in self. Some of us feel better than others because we don’t listen to secular music, don’t celebrate halloween, don’t drink, and more things like that. We are holy because of Jesus. We are all sinners, we all struggle with things, and Jesus is the one who made us faultless. Jude 1: 24-25 says, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present [you] faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Savior, [be] glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” I even struggle with this myself. I pray that God will help me to always remember and recognize that I have only been made right with Him, through Christ alone.
Shame is from the devil.
Friends, we are so loved. Sometimes I find myself thinking of myself in such a negative light because of my sins. Sometimes I even think to myself I am such a bad person, or even that I am worthless. That is not from God. God would never call me those things. We can look in His word and see just how loved we are and how much He cares about us. He delights in us! Here are some scriptures that prove just how much He cares:
“The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Psalms 37:23
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5
“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. . ” Micah 7:13
And not to forget this well known scripture,
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
There are so many other scriptures that show God’s love for us. God is love. If we meditate on the scriptures day and night, then we can fight back those lies from the enemy. You are important. You are so loved.
Getting in the Word Daily is Vital
Reading the Bible and knowing God’s word is how we are able to get to know who He is. How can you be in a relationship with someone if you don’t know who they are? God gave us such a great gift (His Word) and we should spend time with Him daily. Spending time with Him daily is helping improve my negative thoughts and my days have been feeling so much better and brighter. I encourage you to spend time with Him. Make room for Him.
We Can Go to God with our True Feelings and Emotions.
In my daily Bible reading plan, we are currently studying Job and something I have noticed is how honest Job is being about his feelings with God. Job is coming to God in a respectful, reverential way of course but he’s being honest about his true feelings. We can go to God when we feel upset or sad, we can let God know how we truly feel. Especially because he knows how we feel anyway. We might as well be real about it. He wants us to cast our worries and anxietes on Him. He wants to hear from you.
I have been learning so many things about God and I have so much more I want to share but I don’t want this blog post to become too long. I will make a Part 2 to this with more things God has been teaching me! Overall I am just really excited to grow and become the best that I can be with God.
Thank you so much for reading. It means a lot that you took the time out of your day to read something I wrote.
Kindly,
Kayla
